What, now?
“The father said his son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a couple of months ago and thought that might be related to the shooting.”
It’s hard to wrap one’s head around the shooting yesterday. There’s a lot of mourning to do. I’m confused and saddened, exhausted and scared for our world.
And yet – I’m hopeful. I believe in the queer community, the resilience. I believe in being queer in public, even more so today. I believe in visibility. In waking up today and loving your loved ones as an act of love, an act of hope, an act of vigil, and rebellion - against quotidian hate and against murder.
We must rise.
